Ok so im writting this as a last resort, been stuck on a solution for about a week and havent managed to find the answer on my own so heres my question first:

I recently bought a gtx 980m and have an M17x R4 None 3D running Windows 8.1 Optimus Standard Bios A12
    I followed the steps from:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...4-without-optimus-working-great.777145/page-3

I then installed the gpu modded driver
    http://downloads.eurocom.com/support/drivers/upgradeyourlaptop/Alienware/

i know they are a little out dated but i just need one to test so i used:
    M17xR4_05801028_9xxM_378.49.zip

Now the problem is that when i do this and restart i get a blank screen, mouse cursor is visible at times. I also found if i uninstalled intel graphics driver and then installed the nvidia driver it works fine but then trying to install the intel back on gives a black screen while installing. Just wondering have i missed a step or something obvious that should have already been done?
