I think it has been happening for a while, and I just keep on forgetting to fix this but I cannot get internet access through my Ethernet port. (Yes its plugged in) lol. In all seriousness though, I have updated the driver for it from dells support site, from intel...Everytime I install it I get warning right after saying that it was installed incorrectly, Idk why or what to do? is this a known problem with m17x r4? Anyone, help is appreciated thanks.

Have you tried updating the Bios? Any exclamation marks on the device manager?

Have you tried the lastest drivers from Atheros instead of DELL?

You may have accidentally turned off the Ethernet controller

At startup Press F2 to enter BIOS --> Advanced --> Integrated NIC --> Make sure it's enabled.

Or just press F9 to load optimal defaults and it should automatically be turned on
