Hi there,
Long story but my GPU died a while back and I'm finally getting round to upgrading.
So after a lot of research, on here and other websites I went for a GTX 970m, a good upgrade from my GTX 675m
So I went ahead and followed the step by step instructions, clean install, A12 unmodified bios etc and all seemed ok, the card shows in bios as Nvidia GPU.
However this is where the problems start.
Card does not show in device manager, only shows as basic display adapter and no matter what I try I cannot get the latest display drivers installed, won't recognise the card during install and quits.
I have tried two clean installs, multiple different drivers and even called Nvidia only to be told to contact my computer's manufacturers.
Any help/tips/suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I'm happy to try anything to see if it helps to be honest.

I'm rather unskilled when it comes to modified drivers actually, I understand the process but never seems to correct.
I know you need the device ID from the gpu for starters, then you'll need to add that to the inf, but I'm fuzzy at that point.
@Rengsey R. H. Jr. May be able to help if he's got time, if not there are others here are aware of the process of modding driversRengsey R. H. Jr. likes this. -
Post your GPU Hardware ID and thy shall be helped.

I think it's easier if your running peg mode as you might need to alter another line for the Intel HD if you are running SG mode.

Thanks again. -
No, every GPU/Laptop combination needs its own mod-line in the inf-file.
Here's my (very basic) mod for driver 430.86.
Am using this method of modding ever since, to date it worked on all combinations I had to deal with, about 10-15 combinations (of m17xs and m18xs).
Removing the old driver with "DDU" in Safe Mode and Win "Test Mode" activated, that should be clear to you (??).
Also copying the folder "C:\\NVIDIA" to your Desktop, as soon as the error message appears (don't click it away until you've done so as the folder will disappear), then replacing the inf-file, and start the modded installation.
Take this driver 430.86: https://www.nvidia.de/Download/driverResults.aspx/148087/en
Hope it works for you.Attached Files:

I'm good with the safe mode bit test mode? Is it activated the same way as safe mode? If not I'm sure I can find something on Google no problem
Very much appreciate the help thanks again and fingers crossed.

Misspelling of mine in the last post, correct phrase is: Disabling Driver Signature...Last edited: Jul 18, 2019 -
