So my brand-new m17x just arrived this afternoon, and after fiddling around with it all day, I simply cannot get the HDMI Input to work at all. I've tried 3 different cables, 2 Xbox consoles, a PS3, 2 DVD players, and even my own desktop. The only thing that somewhat worked for a brief moment and then never again was my desktop. I was notified on the screen that HDMI Input was ON, and my desktop appeared on my screen, for about half a second. I could never get it to work after that.

    Any suggestions?

I have the Nvidia 675M and the newest beta driver version. 304.78 I think...

Yes. I've tried every video card driver I can get my hands on. Nothing's working. The HDMI input was a big reason why I bought this computer and not something cheaper...so I really hope I can get this to work...

What screen did you order with your computer? Not sure about the Xbox, but the PS3 won't show any image on the screen if it was set to 1080p in your TV and your laptop's monitor supports up to 720p. In that case you would have to change the Video Output on your console.

Using Dell drivers you shouldn't find any problems, after plugging in the cord the screen should start showing the Video Signal. I also found this thread with a workaround if you're using Nvidia drivers.

I ordered the full HD non-3D screen that has a resolution of 1920x1080. I upgraded to that display specifically so I could play xbox games in 1080p. I have tried switching the xbox to 720p, but it didn't work. I have seen the workaround thread, and unfortunately, the link to the downgraded drivers 404s at the Nvidia website, so I cant download the old drivers.

After further research, I have come to discover that I should have mentioned that when I press fn+f8 (HDMI In), a message pops up that says "please connect HDMI input device". I looked through a few forms and some have suggested that it could be either bent pins in the HDMI input slot or the motherboard could be faulty...just thought I'd include that bit of information.

Are you willing to take the case apart? If you're brave enough to handle it, you can just pop the case open and do you're own investigation...

I don't think i want to take apart the whole thing...its behind some important-looking stuff that i don't want to disassemble on my own.

What are you trying to connect?

Have you tried different HDMI cables?
