    M17x R4 Intel iGPU and eDP display only, possible?

    I am sitting and waiting to get my GTX 1070 MXM which is going to take a month and I was wondering if its possible to actually boot the M17x R4 via Intel iGPU using eDP, I was told this was possible.

    I would try myself but I do not have any DDR3 memory modules laying around to boot it.

    It’s not possible. Intel HD 4000 doesn’t work over EDP

    Ah, thanks for telling me then that old rumour pretty much confirmed. Now I wont have to waste time taking apart my ThinkPad just to reinstall the CPU and memory into the Alienware until my GPU arrives someday.

    This is actually incorrect. The HD 4000 does in fact, support eDP (it is just DP in a different form factor), but the eDP port in the M17X R4 does not have the eDP port wired to anything but the MXM slot.
