So i recently bought an M17xR4 Off Of Ebay.

when it arrived the machine was stunning. Upon Opening the Laptop i noticed that the audio wasn't working.

I Decided to further my search with this beauty of a machine and also noticed that the HDMI-IN and OUT were not responding.

After reading through some Fourms i have concluded that i need a Dell technician to Service My laptop to Get things back in order.

My question is that do i to get the Ownership transfer, because the seller said it should take up to 15 Business days to Register that my

Laptop is under my name. is there anyway to have the motherboard replaced any sooner?

    I have the Service Tag.

These are the Current services(warranty) that i have with Dell

: Next Business Day Support. and the Provider is: QLX

: XPS Technical Support and the Provider is: Dell

is there a way i can get my laptop to a dell store and have them Service it there?

what would i need to provide?

Thank you for any Information regarding this subject

The m17x r4 and m18x r2 actually have to have a hdmi cable with a deep connection - you can google this for more information. Most cables won't register with the units as the connection part isn't long enough to enable connectivity with the port. if I was you - I'd try to avoid mobo replacement - Tell dell about this and they will most likely send you a compatible cable - As it's what I have done. With tech visits anything can happen or go wrong.

Try fiddling around with the audio settings - you may find they actually work.
    Good luck ;)

ill see about the HDMI thing, but the deal with the audio is that every time I shut it down, put it to sleep, and switch Gpus. the audio appears with that little red "x" on it and will no longer be detected. the way i have to get it to work it to shutdown my laptop, tap the back of my laptop "AC Adapter Area" and turn it back on. this shouldnt be happening to a laptop that is worth over 2000$+ for. :/

That sounds like a connector has worked loose.

The audio issue is usually fixed with a BIOS update... or more dreadfully a mobo replacement as was with mine.

Correct just call dell and set up an in home repair. Be sure though to be there when the tech services the machine to make sure everything goes okay, and to your satisfaction.

I also mentioned this on a recent post but have found no answer I got the sound working on the HDMI-IN but everytime I try to run anything from another laptop to an Xbox this happens. I have tried 3 different HDMI cables and all have had the same results. DSCN0796.jpg can someone provide me with insight of how to fix this?

Basicly that is the full screen of the laptop, but notice that fancy white line that is drawn across the screen along with the repeated image that has been reproduced along the bottom

This happens with anything that i put into the HDMI-IN.

    The HDMI-OUT is working Flawlessly.

That looks like a weird image tracking issue.

So just to clarify if you plug just your laptop into the 360 it works fine and then you plug another laptop into it? Can you clarify the exact differences in the setup without issues and the one with explaining how each device is connected?
