Hey there, i'll get straight to the point. I have an M17x R4 & an M18x R1 and was wondering if it's worth upgrading the screen of the R4 with the 3D enabled screen. I saw that the M18x R1 screen is gorgeous compared to the R4 which looks washed out and pale in comparison but I have heard from several sources that the 3D screens are of much higher quality. Can anyone chime in?

Basically I'm looking for specs. Contrast ratios, Color accuracy, sRGB coverage, etc

It's definitely possible, but I doubt it will be easy to find those parts now.

I can say with confidence that the 120Hz panel is definitely nice, and noticeably better than the standard screen. I've owned a few different systems with the 3D panel. Always enjoyed them very much. The main sacrifice is battery life.

There is another screen that isn't official but it is 100% compatible which covers the sRGB color spectrum much better, even better than the 3D screen. I forget the model # though, maybe somebody can help.

The M17x R3 3D display has better color coverage. The R4 3D screen is also very good. Both are better than the standard 1080p. There is the benefit of 120Hz. The R3 display wont work in the R4 machine (I have tried) and both will need a nvidia GPU and the relevant cable for the plug on the motherboard as it is different to the regular one.

Yes it works, you need the R3 cable/connector too (50 pin)

Hmm strange. Didn't work with me for some reason and I had all the right cables.
