I recently purchased the new Beats Studio just released this month and I noticed something strange when plugging them into my R4. I noticed a strange loud noise, almost as if it amplified the noise cancellation that the Beats bring.

I can definitely notice the difference when plugging them into my laptop compared to my phone or even any other laptop that's not an AW M17x R4.

I even tried them on my brothers Asus gaming laptop and that extra noise was gone but when trying them on my friends M17x R4 it made the same extra noise as mine. I'm not sure why?

any insight onto why this is only happening with M17x R4's would be appreciated. Also, when I bought my AW I also bought the AW headphones from the store and those don't make the noise i just mentioned above, unfortunately they're not the most comfortable headphones to use for long periods of time.

is this a hiss? and is this a USB headset or just something you plug into the audio jack like any other headphone?

It's static and you just plug the headset into the headphone jack. What's weird is that it only happens when i plug it into my AW or any other that I've tried for that matter.

Yep, got the same problem. When you unplug your Alienware from power cable it should stop.

easiest fix would probably be to buy an external sound card I believe. I only get a hiss when I have TeamSpeak or another Such program open. My headset is USB though and not a normal headphone jack.

I get this too as others said it's static from the psu.

You only really notice it with a decent pair of headphones though.

It's a common problem with a lot of integrated sound solutions, it's very PCB real estate heavy to put in shielding.

Tried it in another jack? On the R4 one is a headphone port, the other is a headset port. Otherwise it's just like the above have said, lack of good shielding.

I have the Solo HD's (post Monster/Dre breakup) and I turn them up to 50 for music and games on my R4 and I have never heard a hissing noise. Not sure if the internals of the Solo HD's are different than the Studio's other than the bigger ear pads. Just putting my $0.02 in.
