First of all, sorry about the multiple threads, it isn't allowing me to post properly for some reason, any posting times out and posts the thread with no content. I posted this in someone else's thread about the m17x r4 due to that problem, this is a test to see if I can post to my own thread.
Anyway, I recently bought an m17x r4 with an 7970M and I want to be able to switch between integrated and discrete graphics (F7) on the fly WITHOUT rebooting, for convenience. i know this was possible in the past with other graphics card configurations. I could use the application specific settings provided by catalyst control center, but those don't allow for true maximum performance for me like running on ultra settings. And I hate having to reboot when I finish playing a game and want to browse the web and save battery. Any solutions?
EDIT: woohoo I can post in my own thread! Apparently, it first posts an empty thread, which I must quick reply to. Does this on all browsers fro me. Weird, stupid, broken vbulletin.

The amd 7970m has enduro its equivalent to nvidia's optimus. So no need to manually switch via f7.
-
There is a problem with that though, I don't get nearly the performance using enduro that I get when fully switched over. I'm talking massive increases in fps when manually switched. So I wondered if there was a faster way to manually switch it.

That doesn't really cover it, though. I can do that and enable application specific acceleration, but that still doesn't yield the performance of solely using the discrete graphics. Which requires a reboot. I merely want a way to get the F7 key to work without rebooting. However, I fear I may have to wait fro an ATI official driver, as there are currently none.

It should switch automatically!
Launch HWinfo while running Furmark and then close furmark and ull see temperature is 0°C (but atm the name is Intel HD 4000) so the amd is turned off.
Maybe the use of F7 does request a reboot. -

One issue that I have come across is an issue with artifacting on this card. I am assuming this is due to driver issues, but it seems to be occurring more times than not.
I researched this card and found out that AMD does not support the M series cards with drivers, but each manufacturer does provide drivers for their particular card.
I would imagine that Dell would provide updated drivers as their provider releases those, so hopefully this information make it to the correct people.
