M17x R4 need good alienware rep !!!! PLEASE HELP

Hey everybody!!!!

Im glad to be a member of this forum seeing as it provides a wealth of information and awesome people who like computers!!!!!!


So heres my deal I want an m17x r4 but the m17x r5 release seems imminent...should I wait or should i buy now?

and seeing as how the r4 will soon be dated could you guys refer me to a good rep who will work with me?

The r5 may indeed be right around the corner. But as far as I can see there will be no real major upgrades that would make the r4 obsolete..... Intel isn't releasing it's new CPUs any time soon, the only thing is I've read that nvidia may be releasing it's new model GPUs in the next few months. But that is still just rumor.I say if you want an alienware, just do it they will all be obsolete eventually anyways. Plus look at all the happy r2/r3 owners around.

Why is the r5 release happening now? I assumed they would come out a few months after haswell comes out. What is the point of upgrading with the same CPU and GPU as before? The only thing they could change really then is the look and the cooling.

 

New revisions will keep coming out, it's up to you to decide when you want to jump in the game.

In my opinion the M17x r4 is an excellent laptop.

 

Also as far as reps, because of this forum dell has caught on to what the reps are doing and are now firing all reps and managers that issue large discounts. The most you can get off is 200 dollars now unless there are coupons or special promotions happening. I was lucky, for the BS promises I was given (which those reps and 1 manager is now getting fired over) they worked every possible discount and coupon possibly and got me my 4260 m17x for 3600 out the door with a 5% gift card which is about 180 dollars that I will use to get microsoft office and something else from them.

 

Reps aren't even supposed to provide discounts, they're supposed to help you sort things out to find a suitable computer for your needs. There are lots of people that need guidance when selecting components as they might not know exactly what they're looking for because their not familiar with the parts.

That's why we offer assistance while placing new orders. Any deals that may come out of the conversation with the reps are directly handled by their supervisors.

 

Well the reps have been doing it and their supervisors have been approving discounts they are not allowed to approve so I was warning the OP of that.

 

Umm so far from the truth. No one is getting fired. They are still giving the deals.

A GM. I was trying to talk to a few sales guys then one put me on hold next I knew it the a different guy picked up the phone saying he was the manager and explained to me the situation. He said it is because of this forum since a lot of people for example call Debora or other agents saying they heard of discounts given to other people so they call those reps. So they are cracking down on it.

 

I never said they aren't giving deals. I just said you won't get say a 4200 dollar system for 3200 out the door anymore. I clearly stated my system was discounted by about 800-900 dollars. But that is including the 185 I get back from the 5% card.

 

Because YOU couldn't get the deal doesn't mean others can't. Sorry but they have been giving deals like this for years. It will still happen and NO ONE is getting fired for it.

 

Again you are not listening. Yes it has been happening for years but now they are finding out about it. Go ask Debora or other reps. The managers are cracking down. Because of this forum they have found out what their reps are doing. What are you not understanding about that?

And I think 800 dollars off is a pretty damn good deal if you ask me.

True but id be pissed if i spent 2k plus and then bam the r5 release and it steals my thunder!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

So with that being said is the R4 at the end of it product cycle or what?

and also is the nebula red finish something i should try out does it rub off or get scratches easily?

 

I'll tell you this the one person on this forum everyone loves is Debora Downey. Give her a call. She'll tell you she can give you 200 dollars off and that is it since this other person doesn't believe me that they are cracking down.

When was the r4 released is the question you should ask. And also how much time was there between the r1 and r2 then r2 and r3 then r3 and r4.

If a new laptop gets released every year and the r4 has been out almost a year then you can expect a new laptop. Like I said earlier though it would be pointless for alienware to release one untill Haswell comes out which I believe is during summer. So probably an r5 would come out in the fall. I can't wait another 6 months for a laptop so I ordered one now and while the time was still good to get the deal I want. Whether it is an r5 or r4 I'm not paying 4k+ for a laptop. I wanted my 4k+ laptop for mid 3s and I got it.
