    Hello Everybody,

I am getting a black screen when my computer boots up after the initial windows logo loading image pops up. This problem happens about 50% of the time. Usually I just hold the power button to turn off laptop and then turn it back on and after 1 or 2 attempts it loads into windows no problem. Benchmarks seems to be on par with my model of laptop and I have NO problems once in windows.

    What I have tried:
removing and reinstalling graphic drivers. I have tried dell's drivers, the last 3 sets of nvidia drivers and the beta drivers with no luck. I remove the drivers in safe mode, restart and load new drivers. I have also tried 3rd party cleaners like CClean.

Reinstalled windows 2 times. Once with Alienware CD and once with a standard version of win7 ultimate.

Same problem. Hear something about 680M failing due to some issues... I think im out of options.. I just wanted to make sure before I call Dell and have to go through whole song and dance again.

    Thanks,

How are your system's temperatures while benching? It seems like the GPU may be dying. Hopefully you are still under warranty. Also, have you taken apart the system to check if everything is still seated properly? Maybe something is loose and is short-circuiting.

Hopefully a representative sees this post and assists you.

Tempatures for GPU are fine. It's not overheating. Maybe something isn't seated properly.

When windows loads and the load screen finishes it doesn't make any windows start up sounds. Screen goes black and It freezes, windows doesn't load.

It does seem like the card isn't working well anymore.

    That's my bet, too.

If you've still got warranty, give Dell a call or send a message to brother Luis (above) and he'll take care of you.
