Greetings all members of this forum,

I have run into a very peculiar situation with my M17x.

After a fresh Windows 7 install, installing any regular (12.7 beta, 12.8) ATI Software Suit produces "The Catalyst Control Centre is not supported by the driver version of your enabled graphics adapter. Please upgrade your ATI Graphics driver or enable your ATI Adapter using The Displays Manager" upon lauching CCC. This is after meticulous cleanup between driver installations. The 7970M shows up in the manager with a Code 43 error (unit disabled because of a reported problem).

Installing any of the Dell released ATI software suits (A01 8.973, A00 8.934.2) produces an hard crash to a black screen with blinking command prompt (never ending) during the graphic driver part of the install process. After this safe mode and cleaning up the failed installation with Driver Fusion is the only way to get Windows booting again.

Does anyone recognize the Dell driver install behavior? Busted card or other mishaps?

I will do another Windows 7 reinstall but I have not been able to zero in on my initial problem.

Hi that dialoge appears when you are installing the AMD drivers using the Intel HD card, before install the intel drivers you should install Alienware OSD application, then switch to the AMD card with fn+F7 and once you are there you can install the AMD drivers, I hope it works!
