I've been mingling with the HDMI on the laptop, in order to use an extern monitor.

I just can't wrap my head around the Intel HD 4600 chipset on the motherboard vs. the 770GTX Card in the computer. Why are there drivers for both installed, and hook up a monitor in the HDMI, will it be the 770 or the Intel running it? If it's the Intel, can I change it?

    Best regards
    Jimi

In switchable mode the Intel controls all the display outputs. In dedicated only mode electrical switches on the PCB route everything to the dGPU instead and it handles the outputs.

In either case you should be able to plug in a single monitor and it will just work.

True, I would recommend to press Fn+F6 to go Discrete all the time if you are planning to use an external screen.
