Hi I have been offered the following system replacement for my M15x and I am wondering is this a good system

    i7 2630QM
    FHD 1920x1080 Display
    8gb Ram
    750gb HDD
    AMD Radeon HD 6870m

Overall I am happy but I am not sure about the graphics card, would it be worth even paying extra to get a 6970m ? would there be much performance increase ? below is my M15x specs

    i7 740qm
    500gb HDD
    8gb Ram
    5850

any help would be greatly appreciated

Well technically the 6870 is better than your 5850, so you cannot really complain, BUT if you have the option to pay for a more powerful GPU out of pocket, I would definitely do so. The 6970m is about 50% more powerful than a 5870, and the 5870 is more powerful than your 5850. So the 6970m would be a nice cost efficient upgrade. I would recommend it or the 6990m any day.

    Everything else looks good.

What did you pay for your original system (minus the warranty)? The system they are offering you has a retail price of about $1750+tax. If your original system cost more than that, you could argue they are not giving you your full value. If you paid less than $1750, then you cannot really justify complaining (although some still would).

I paid around $2000 for my system, I do not mind paying extra , they said i could add upgrades if i wanted so i was just making sure it was worth it, but if it is not to expensive to go for the 6990m i would take that but otherwise i would go 6970 if it is an option thanks for your advice helped a lot
