I took the ssd out of my desktop and i plan to put it into my m17x when it arrives. Now there is still a lot of files on the ssd so how do i make it clean again for use with my laptop ( i bet a normal format wont do it). The memory cells need to be made empty otherwise i loose performance ( trim). Thanks

I'd like to see a step by step SSD addition thread/video for R3's as well.

Windows is going to give you a choice to format the partition when you do the fresh installation. All of the data doesn't get written over with 0's and 1's. Technically it's all still 'there', but Windows isn't going to see it in the table, and it will all be written over eventually. Your TRIM capability won't be affected.

BEst bet to restore performance as well as wipe the drive is a "secure erase" Search for it on the forum, and you should find some stuff on it.

thats a problem with SSD , you see, when you gonna write new data in the memory cell it has to remove the old data first, which results in performance decrease, makin sure that the memory cell is empty is actually what TRIM does, I want to format my drive and make sure that all memory cells are empty so I have optimum performance to start with.
