Hi there,
Can the current M17x i7 Sandy Bridge have a second hard drive?
I'd like a small SSD for the operating system, and about 500GB for data. Sadly Alienware don't offer this...why not I wonder? The only SSD they offer is large and expensive.
So I was thinking of having a small SSD fitted after purchase, and moving the operating system there.
Can anyone please identify any problems with this plan?
Thanks![]()

Thanks for the info, I'm looking but not sure where to find if the M17x has the option of 2 HD's in all that info...

Yes, it can hold a second drive.

It should. I haven't gotten mine yet, but I've been told if you order one drive the space is open for a second.

Guys, review the documentation on the 17xR3 via the link in the general info thread. See the service manual. The system can take 2 hard drives.
