    Hey Guys I got a M17x R3 that i recently just bought. Like 3 days ago. As a habit of mine, I always reinstall a fresh copy of window on every new laptop that i bought, for safety reasons. My baby (M17x) came with window 7 home edition preinstalled, but i wanted to upgrade to window 7 ultimate edition. But for some reason every time i install the OS system and everythings goes really well until my baby hit a wall. It get through everything, the New username and password etc. BUT IT FROZE ON THE "WINDOW IS FINALIZING YOUR SETTING" screen. The moving bar keep moving, but nothing happen. I waited for hours and it is still not working. I tried installed another fresh copy, Deleted my partition, Format my drive, etc and did it again and again, but still the same problem. BUT when i reinstall using Dell original disc everything works fine. The problem only pertain when I use my copy of Window 7 Ultimate. But this is the original disc that i bought from the store, I used on other laptop and t work just fine. I also make a bootable USB, but the usb did not boot. I found out why this happened, it is because I used the 3.0 USB. Please Help.

    This is my system setting:

    i see you said you deleted "my partition" however, have you deleted all partitions? I always put a fresh load on my new systems and when I got mine a month ago, with an ssd, i deleted all partitions and loaded up win7 with no issues.

    Tai, have you tried to reinstall from the window's disk that came with your laptop? Try this just to take your copy of windows out of the equation.

    Ok first off Thank you for the Replies>

    @doa1530
    - There are two partitions (in one SSD) that show up when i tried to do a fresh install.
    - Window Partition - which is about 210Gb - I deleted/format this one.
    - System recovery - Which is about 13GB - I leave this one untouch.

    So do you think i should format both of them? I do not know what the system recovery partition are use for.

    @SlickDude80

    I tried with the disc that come with my laptop and it work fine. I do not know if it is my disc that is faulty or not.

    Thank you for the help guys

    repartition the hard disk definitely, don't leave the recovery partition untouched, then it will solve your problem I guess
