How do they get away with this this is better then the deal I haggled with dell by $50 !!!
Newegg.com - DELL Alienware M17x(m17x10-1847DSB) NoteBook Intel Core i7 740QM(1.73GHz) 17.0" 6GB Memory 500GB HDD DVD±R/RW Dual ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870
-
if i had some spare $ i'd jump on it and add a 920XM es
-
does it have RGB???
-
Warranty options seem like they only have depot service, which in my opinion is HORRIBLE.
-
Yeah, I don't like the warranty options.
-
You can always get the Dell warrenty by calling Dell directly.
-
I just saw this in my e-mail. It doesn't say whether it's an RGB LED screen or not, so *probably* not. I didn't see where it says depot service, I thought all AWs have now the famous on-site service. Not that that's any better tbh.
-
I just ordered mine. Total was exactly 2149.99. Specs are as follows:

I will provide more details when I receive it, perhaps post some pics and impressions. In my opinion the best deal out there. -
-
I believe the ones from Newegg have the non RGB screen with the lower resolution. Not worth it imo
-
if it does not have RGB no point getting it the RGB is what the m17x is all about and then the other goodies =p
-
Just saw an advertisement for it and it defines the screen as HD-1200P
-
Yup looks like it might be RGB and combine that with no tax for most this might actually end up being a good deal with no negotiations for new members just wanting to get one with no hassle.
EDIT: You should be able to get a dell warranty once you get the laptop and sometimes if you get like a $400 warranty they give you a $50 or $75 gift card so check into that as well this is HAWT with no tax on the laptop and kills the last deal for $2199 plus tax and wait 2 weeks for it. GO GO GO !!!!! =p
-
well it say lcd so we will have to wait for the first to land to know
-
If it's got rgb led it's a pretty nice deal for a new system. Looks like Dell's push towards mainstream is spreading.
-
Someone call newegg and see if it's really RGB?
-
Does anyone know if this deal is just for US customers. I can't seem to find it on the Canadian Newegg.ca
-
Since NewEgg is selling this anyone wonder if Dell is trying to get rid of inventory for a new model/revision say the 6 series ATI, sorry AMD, or a 4 series nvidia?
-
Yeah mentioning 1200p implies it could be RGB LED. I am just wondering how come they do not advertise it explicitly. It's certainly a feature worth mentioning.
-
Keep in mind Dell DID ship R2's with CCFL 1200p displays early on so it could still be CCFL. The R1 had those.
-
I have another question about this, because it's very similar to what I was just about to buy, but $500 cheaper. The 3 year warranty that you can purchase with it, is it a newegg warranty instead of a Dell warranty?
Also reading through it's terms, it seems to say it only applies to products in the united states. Can anyone confirm if Newegg warranties work only inside the united states? -
Can I return my M17x I ordered from Dell if I have not opened the box they just shipped it in? I am down with saving $150 because of tax's
Also Id like a confirmation these are not using the old 1200p displays used in the R1s which are not RGB... Wonder why they do not specify? -
The only downside about this is that for some reason Newegg preferred accounts are much harder to get approved then Dell Preferred account. Newegg denies me for some reason yet Dell gave me a $4500 credit limit.......
-
Btw, I think these are RGB because I know they no longer buy the dual CCFL version(stopped manufacturing years ago). You also get a larger size HDD. Def. return it for a full refund and buy from newegg. Ask them for a label and you should have no prob. returning. -
It doesn't make sense that Dell would allow a 3rd party to undercut them like this.
Time will tell.

so everyone fess up who got in on this deal and can you please post up and say what type of screen it came with and anything else that sticks out. you can go with fatwallet cashback to get 2% not much but work out to be $43 lolz...go fill up your gas tank for free =p
-
-
-
go here and make an account and login in to newegg from clicking on the link so it will track your purchase and get you cashback in like 2-3 months kinda like a mail in rebate but $$$ is $$$.
Earn 2.0% cash back at Newegg
BTW: Dell return policy is 21 days -
-
^^^^^lolz the guys has a point that no matter what you can't get a refund only a laptop in exchange. I see nothing wrong with that if what you are trying to do is get a laptop at a solid price and keep it. If you are wanting to simply test out the m17x and see if it is right for you then try dell and keep in mind the higher price and restocking fee. If you are sure you want a m17x than at this time this is the best deal and if RGB is true then it is a killer deal for brand new with no negotiations. $2100 OTD after 2% cashback and some sort of Credit card rewards.

Hmm, it's $750 difference for me and my incoming M17x today. Mine has a i7-620 CPU and 4870 XCF. Tempting, especially considering I've spent several days haggling with Dell CSRs to get the previous promotion; and this cost a lot less.
What do you guys think? I'm just not a hardcore gamer so the 5870s would more than likely be a waste. But then I like future-proofing myself a bit longer too if possible. -
Good deal or not will depend on who provides the warranty imo.
Tax free from newegg is cool, but I'd go with Dell outlet deals + 3 yr warranty from Dell. -

The differences between mine and the NewEgg one are:
- 740QM vs 720QM (not really worth it)
- 6GB RAM vs 4GB RAM (again, not a big deal for me)
- 500GB HDD vs 250GB HDD. Putting the 1TB in makes no difference for me. I'm using SSD now, 250GB w/o OS is enough for my everyday need (that mean 1080p movies and lossless music). Otherwise 1.5TB external HDD does it job.
- The NewEgg one seems not to have Intel 6300. Mine does.
- There is a VERY BIG CHANCE the NewEgg one does not have RGB LED (I kept hearing Dell reps offering me *better deal* that when I asked if it have RGB LED, the answers are always "Err... I don't know... It said 1440x900 900p...). Mine does have RGB LED.
- Mine came with 1 year Advanced Care and 21 days return policy.
Otherwise, I paid the same price.
PS: If only we know for sure the display is RGB...
I could not care less. -
-
My black systems look less and less intriguing since this deal came out.
I should have with gone silver or red. -
You guys should use Dell outlet to find a system rather than go through newegg. Look at my sig for what I just bought a few minutes ago and the price.

The problem w/ Dell outlet is it's very difficult to find one w/ XFX 5870 and RGB LED at the same time. -
It's xfire 5870 and has 1 year complete care. Use the chat feature, that's how I got mine. -
i don't really want a red one but i'd take one just to change it up lol. -
Mine just arrived -
WOW
chiefs.
Welcome back Oles!!!eheheheheh! He's back on the mother ship.
Cheers. -
