And how the heck it can be $750 difference anyway since yours came with XFX 4870M and i7 620M?

Thanks bro, it's good to be back. It's funny how people keep saying over and over that Alienware is overpriced. I'd like to see any Asus or Clevo owner get a machine like the one in my sig for a similar price. Well for Asus it's impossible since they don't have crossfire/sli and Clevo's X7200 would cost 2x that amount. Again, like another poster pointed out, SKIP newegg, their return policy is non-existent and the outlet has better deals.
-
No kidding ey. 2k or less is like an super awesome price for the parts and specs we can get. Totally awesome rocking machine. After Dell acquired Alienware the price has become even more affordable here down under. I remember the 1st time I was actually thinking about buying the 15 inch skull cap rippely designed Alienware a few years back now. I ended up buying a maxed out XPS M1730 instead because the minimum price here for the Alien I wanted was 5.5k. It was just a bit too much for me. Heck way too much LOL.
Now with Aliens being priced 3k and less even sometimes thats just amazing and super stuffs. For you guys with the Dell Outlet prices and other offers TIP TOP ules! Can't wait for the R3 oles!!!
Cheers. -
Well, installing Win7 Ultimate on my M17x. Man, whomever had this did not take good care of it! Urgh. Dents in many places, traces of glue from "rice-out" stickers on the sides near some ports (no doubt), and a engraving of M17x hahaha
So far it's looking good; screen looks good and bright, keyboard surfaces look clean. Inside is clean as well. Front vents could definitely use more dust cleaning. -
If yours was not a scratch and dent purchase, call Dell and they will ship out a new chasis to you. -

That's a great deal. Don't go for the NewEgg one.
And yup, as Joker said, tell Dell if yours is not a scratch and dent product. -
no no, it's an outlet laptop
Just didn't expect to have this many dents/scratches and glue on it. Internals seem fine and that's what matters most.
-
Outlet has 3 types of notebooks: never shipped new in box, refurbished and scratch and dent. If yours was not a scratch and dent, then they are obligated to repair any cosmetic damages it has. -
Dell just offered me a free extended warranty so I don't return it

Yeah I know it's from outlet. But unless it's categorized in "scratch and dent" section, it's supposedly in great condition at least (normally excellent or even mint).

Dell refurbed has the same warranty as new product. Just same.

I received the laptop today and I have confirmed the following:
1) It is 900P
2) It has 1 year of Basic Dell Warranty
3) It comes with 6 Mos of McAfee
Other than the fact that it is 900p...I'm happy since I've been looking at upgrading my XPS1730 for a few mos now and have been looking for Alienware deals for a while. I almost bought the m11x for it's size but I figure I go up in power with the M15x. After watching it go as low as $1799 with all the specs that I wanted, I was excited to see that the M17x that I priced at about $2800 can be $2149.
Feel free to ask me any other questions and I'll try to answer them. -
I am surprised no one actually called Newegg before they ordered and just asked whether they know if it's RGB LED. I spoke few times with Newegg support and they were really good.
-
I received mine today -- 3 days after I first ordered it. Answers to some questions:
1) It is the 900p - I called their support line and they admitted that NewEgg meant to advertize 900p and NOT the 1200p. They offered me a complete refund but I will keep it regardless.
2) It is covered by Dell's warranty for 1 year -- a little over a year actually since mine ends in 2/1/2012.
3) Extras include McAfee 6 Month Subscription.
I currently own an XPS1530 and have been looking to upgrade for a few months now. This is the best price with the specs (i7/Dual 5870) that I've seen. Overall I am extremely happy with my purchase. -

Still a good deal but I got a better deal from Dell in that case... I actually showed Dell the newegg M17x and they refunded me the $150 difference I paid in tax's

Apparently this "Charlie" guy who reviewed it has no freaking idea about computers. XP

I too have been desiring the M17x, this system on newegg caught my eye... How much of a difference is this RGB vs. 900p really?
I read it's great for graphic designers/video editors... which I do alot of...
I've only custom built desktops, so this will be my first desktop replacement laptop... I game of course crysis, ut3, FPS etc. and big on the whole editing thing... -
It doesn't quite match the detail of my 3007s though.
Having said that, don't go for the 900P resolution. Aim for the 1200P. The amount of available desktop space is worth it. -

I got it from Dell outlet. It didn't come with the seagate drive though, I bought that separately. My system also came with 1 year of complete care.
