Hi, Im new to this forums. Recently I have purchased a M17x the spec are as follow:

    i7 920xm
    HD5870 x 2
    6GB RAM

    Driver that I have updated:
    BiosA09
    AMD Mobility Radeon HD5870 Driver v8.763-100810a-104118C-Dell, A01
AMD Mobility Radeon HD5870 VBIOS Update v13B96101.104, A01

P.S: I have uninstall Cat, then run Drive Sweeper in safe mode, and Update the HD 5870 driver above. Afterward, run the VBIOS with a usb key.

    Problems:
I used to run Starcraft 2 in ultra with no problem at all, but due to the fact that FF14 required me to update my driver before I can play FF14, so I did it. But after I update the driver, I can no longer play SC 2 in ultra mode. The game run smooth most of the time, but when it come into big battle, the fps drop dramaticly and the game become unplayable. Does anyone know what casuing the issue? Thank you so much for you attention. Much appericated it.

So what driver are you using now then? This is the latest Dell driver so I dont know what you updated to - was it the last ATI mobility driver 10.8?

    See if this works.

Go to your Catalyst Control Center
    Go to Graphics > 3D
Click on "All" to see all the options

    Settings should be

    SMOOTHVISION HD:Anti-Aliasing - 16x
    Filter - Box

    SMOOTHVISION HD:Anisotropic Filtering - 2x

Catalyst AI - Disable Catalys AI

Midmap Detail Level - High Quality

Wait for vertical refresh - Always On

    Anti-Aliasing Mode - Super-sample AA

    Tripple buffering - disabled

That worked for me. I'm still tweaking it. Id appreciate it if anyone else can post their 3D settings that works with Ultra settings for SC2 using the lastest video drivers and vbios

My 4870 xfire typically runs Starcraft2 at ~30 FPS (thanks Blizzard for adding the FPS number on top-left of screen). But in Super huge battle, it drops down to 14 FPS for about 15 seconds..... LOL

FYI - disabling catalyst AI means you are effectively turning off xfire

Blizzard games tend to have issues using xfire where in many cases people don't see any benefit from it or run into problems.
However be warned if you play any other games that are able to use xfire you may see a drop in performance if you leave AI disabled.

i also noticed in sc2 myself when i disabled catalyst AI i lost about 20-30fps on average. Although having it enabled i got graphics corruption so kinda stuck between worse performance or graphics issues lol

I've got my system overclocked and I can't get those kind of numbers at native res on Ultra during the New Folsom mission and a few others. There's no way.

You can also download RadeonPro (the official discussion thread may be found here) and create a profile for Starcraft 2 and tweak all kinds of driver settings for that game only (you can make a profile for every game, of course). This will allow you to keep your default/global driver settings at what works best for you in most games and only tweak driver settings for each game that needs it individually.
The new features it has are also quite handy, like the driver compatibility setting which allows you to use a different (and more compatible/better performing) driver than what you have installed on your system for the game you set it for only while keeping the system installed driver intact. I find it's especially handy when having the OEM drivers (like the DELL/Alienware) installed which usually aren't quite up to date and wanting to play newer (or in some cases older) games that don't work properly with your current driver or simply work better with a different drivers.

I'm having really low fps for campaign missions after updating the BIOS (A06 to A09), VBIOS and video driver, around 20-25fps. (Settings on Ultra, 1920x1200)

The weird thing is, I have around 50-60 fps for Skirmishes. Previously, campaign missions were around that range too. I tried tweaking the settings while in campaign mode and the recommended levels were mostly low / medium. Even with the recommended settings I still get 20-25 fps. It was as though tweaking the settings had no effect whatsoever. :/

Also, I get minor stutters during inter-mission Hyperion (the battleship) scenes. Specs are in my sig. Would really appreciate it if someone could help.

lol ok, when you upgrade the drivers for the GTX 200 cards, you need to reset the SLI settings. open up nvidia manager and turn that sucker back on. if that dose not work, find a good nvidia profile for SCII and force load it in to the Nvidia manager.
