Just curious, but has anyone else had problems hooking up an external 1920x1200 lcd display on Win7?

I found a fix for the blurriness, but I was just wondering if anyone else had that problem.

Yes, but the same happens on our Dell E4300/E6400 series laptops at work, so it's a common Dell issue.

Hmm I'm having a issue where SLI won't stay engaged after a restart or wake up from sleep. I have hybrid turned off. To make SLI functional again, I have to go into the Nvidia control panel and turn off SLI and then turn it on again. Im running 186.82

Might need to perform a clean install of the display driver (186.82). Sounds like something is glitchy w/the cp.

Ok I have finally had a chance to upload the 187.66 Nvidia Driver that I modified to enable blu ray playback.

This driver has been working well for me The sli update didnt make too much difference but it may help:

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/nvidia_multigpu_SLI_profile_update_v3.html

I have tested it with The Following Games in Win 7
    • Batman Arkham Asylum
    • COD W@W
    • NFS Shift
    • Dawn of War 2
    • Saints Row 2
    • Left 4 Dead
And they all seem to work quite well, blu ray and hybrid sli also work with this driver and I have tested it with my external display(tv) and the multiple display settings work fine.

I got the driver from laptopvideo2go, used their inf, then added an inf and setup file from the dell 186.64. So any credit should go to the guys who modify the drivers there.

I really hope this driver is of some help because I was having no end of problems with win 7 till I used this let us know If you think its any good :), I'll post some benchmarks in the benchmark thread when I have some time.

Any issue with sleep/hibernation with this driver?

I'll try it right away if there are no wake up from sleep issues.

The issue I was seeing was waking from sleep/hibernation to a black screen with only a mouse pointer visible. This was intermittent but something I can't 'tolerate'. ;)

With 187.66 I also noticed the NVIDIA Control Panel would not retain settings for individual game profiles. I prefer to set all of my game profiles to 'Single Display Performance Mode' rather than the default of 'Multiple Display Performance Mode'. You can make the change and then click APPLY, however once the NV Control Panel is closed and re-opened the changes will revert. This should not be an issue for users of nHancer. Not sure since I do not use nHancer.

This was using the 187.66 with INF for 186.82. Only way I was able to install it and use BluRay. Not sure if the NV Control Panel issue I mentioned above occurs with word's driver mod.

I'm going through this thread right now, but I thought I'd post in case anyone can answer faster than I read.

I'm running W7 and my touchpad is disabled even when there is no other pointing device connected. I can get around this by disabling it in the settings but I really need a proper fix.

Hey guys. I just put windows 7 on my m17x and its great. But i have some questions. When i drag or rezise windows, its realllyyy laggy. All of my video drivers are installed.

How can i get the cybercam webcam software that it came with from the factory?

Also, when my computer is just sitting here, the processor is idling at 30-40 percent always. It did this in vista too. I look at the task manager and it says 95 percent of the cpu is idle. ?

If you're missing any software from the factory just put in the M17x Resource Disc that came with your M17x. It has everything you need (Cybercam as well).

Hi, well I'm having this weird problem in windows 7. My wireless card for some reason isn't working as it should. Let me explain, when I first boot up my computer it doesn't work at all, for it to work I need to restart it. If I shut it down again, it won't work until I restart it. I'm thinking it might be a driver issue, where can I find the driver for my wireless wifi card? Thank you.

I had the same issue in Windows Vista 64 bit the touchpad would disable when i did not have a external mouse plugged in, to fix it i uninstalled the touchpad driver (synapatics pointing device driver) from program and features downloaded the latest version from the dell website installed it and it worked :)
Here is the driver for w7 http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R232574&SystemID=ALW_LP_M17X&servicetag=&os=W764&osl=en&deviceid=16223&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=1&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=17&typeid=-1&dateid=-1&formatid=-1&fileid=336747

I'm having the exact same problem and I haven't found a solution...

For me, simply restarting sometimes isn't enough, I have to go to nvidia control panel and restore my networking settings to default (nvidia networking installed with my new chipset drivers, uninstalling it has been giving me other issues)

It's not really too big of an issue but it does waste about 30 seconds every time I turn on my computer... does anyone know a way to avoid this?

Have you guys tried using your resource DVD and specifically installing "WLAN Broadcom"?

When you clean install any OS on an M17x, you'll need to reinstall everything via the disc and the Dell site.

On another topic, what are recommended updates through the Dell driver site? I saw an Alien Repsawn update and also a BIOS update. Should I download and install either of them?

Oh, thanks for the drivers for the touchpad, they worked.

The only thing that sucks about the default drivers is the inability to turn off the touchpad when a mouse is detected.

But that switches off the illumination :frown: which like to keep on

These Dell v14 drivers are better than the latest from Synaptics as the option to disable when another mouse is plugged in actually works with the Dell version. Might try them on my netbook where the option stopped working.

Thanks - I'll check Bat Boy's guide...I know the link.
Regarding this; my performance is REALLY bad since Saturday; the only thing I can think that would have caused this problem is that I accidently clicked stealth mode earlier...I was stuck in stealth - could not turn it off. But then when it restarted I just went back into the bios and disabled both items in Graphics (per suggustion from Alienware Tech)...device manager shows it using the discrete video card.. but after that is when I started having major speed problems. Video slow / stuttering for instance in Dragon Age..even EA the start up of the game. Was perfect before saturday.... Any one have issues like this? Thanks...Jimmer

Well, this single 260m is creaming what my 8800's did in SLI for DoD: Source. Very VERY smooth. It's gorgous colors too. I didn't even KNOW this 5 year old game had this many colors until I played it on this laptop. I also don't get drops to sub-20 FPS when a smoke grenade is deployed. There are too many variables to contest, though, unfortunately. I don't know if it's the faster CPU/RAM; W7; 64-bit environment; lack of viruses? Too hard to tell.

All the counts is I'm happy :) I'm also running Comodo Firewall and Avira Antivirus Premium Suite (paid version), and these are some heavy-duty security solutions. Not used to everything being so secure.
