    Hi everyone.

Ok so I was just playing some WoW when all of a sudden my laptop freezes so I restart it and after the windows loading logo, the screen goes black and is illuminated, with no mouse cursor.Right now I can't call Alienware support so I'm asking you all for help.I can go into safemode if I need to though.

    System specs:
    ATI mobile 5870
    Intel i7 920xm
    1tb HDD
And for some reason I can't think of anything else.Any help would be appreciated, especially if I can get it fixed.Thank you.

No one?Well I guess i'm going to have to reinstall windows...and everything else I had. This is a very pleasant way to start my sunday...

I had/have this same issue... check my thread. I'm not getting much help either. But it's gotta be a driver issue.

If it's doing the same thing mine's doing... it's somehow acting like you have two displays set up. After it loads up and you hear the Windows jingle... punch in your login info like normal. Watch for caps, numlock, and things like that... easy to miss if you can't see it. Anyways, you will hear a sound when it logs on and then you will be able to see your cursor and possibly your background. From there, right click and go to "resolution" and then you can see if it's showing dual monitors there... it should be the last option, set it to "show desktop on one only".

That'll give you a temporary fix... but if you have my luck, it will happen again a few days later. It has to be a driver issue. Let me know if you get anywhere with this.

    Maverick,

I posted on your other thread. I would almost venture to say you guys may have hit a FN+F5 or some combination of keys by accident? I know on thinkpads that can make your display go away and not come back unless you notice it.

I have also had mine not recognize the main video card on reboot and try to use the motherboard video card. That will make the laptop have a black screen for some reason. I just disable the onboard card in my bios.
