    Hi Gamers,

I am looking to purchase my first gaming PC and I need help with some configurations.
My PC life span should for at least 3 years and no future upgrade because I do not know much
about installing memory or video card.
As of now the Alienware M17x is $1,499 with the following hardware

    Intel® Core™ i7 2630QM 2.0GHz (2.8GHz Turbo Mode, 6MB Cache)
    4GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz (2DIMMS)
    1GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon™ HD 6870M

    Should I get the the 6GB DDR3 at 1333MHz (2DIMMS) for $60
    or 1.5GB GDDR5 Nvidia GeForce GTX 460M for $75?

    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

Are you into 3D gaming or want to try it? If so get the 3D bundle that includes the 460M, if not get the 6970 (not 6870)

Also get the 2720qm much better and worth the price.
If you love 3d movies or gaming get the Nvidia drive.

Sorry I am not into the 3D technology yet.
Thanks for the info about the 2720qm and Widi display.
I am current using the WD media player to watch video from my portable hard drive.

    So, should I get the the 6GB DDR3 at 1333MHz (2DIMMS) for $60
    or 1.5GB GDDR5 Nvidia GeForce GTX 460M for $75?

I don't know personally but I read in another thread that 3D causes eye strain and if you don't want 3D the 6970 is the go.

definitely the 2720qm, the higher native ram and other bonuses definitely are worth it.

Do not upgrade the ram. It is seriously overpriced. instead, just purchase it from newegg and you could spend like 90bucks and have 8gigs kingston hyperx.

If you want your pc to last the longest and don't care about 3d, then I advise the 6970m or the nvidia 460m at the least. The 6970m is pricey, but has great performance. If you're not a max settings gamer, then 460m should do just fine.
