My screen just got cracked and was wondering if it's possible to just replace the outside glass. The screen works perfect even under the crack.

    Thanks

I think the panel is glued to the screen which itself is part of the whole screen assembly.
    So no, you can't.

The edges of the screen are glued to the glass. Don't ask me how I know. I upgraded my screen - not the entire assembly, but only the panel. That was a pain in the ***.

I think your best bet is just to remove the plexiglass and use the screen without it.

Found this, so this should work if I can get the LCD seperated:

Dell Alienware M17x LCD Front Bezel

Now they have a bunch of LCD screens with the glass attached/not attached can anyone tell me which one would be the same or better than what I have. I have the M17xR1 with the 1920x1200 screen.

Will this one work on the R1:
    Dell Alienware M17x R3 LCD 17.3" FHD 1080

Or does anyone know of a place that sells the screen with the glass attached?

Cut it all out, go glass-less I know someone on the forums did that with his RGB LED m17x R2 and it worked great and looked even better.

Do you have any links on removing the glass? Do you mean to pry it completely from edge to edge?

if you do this, you might wanna find a screen protector to put on top to protect the screen :)
