I saw the thread from last year about dust getting in from the cracks in the top of the screen, hope this isn't too close to that...
Anyway got my 3rd M17x about a week ago... R2 this time. Refurbished, looks great and all the fixings, but the screen has a black fleck toward the bottom left that definitely isn't dust or a scratch or anything on top of the glass. I think there's either some dust between the glass or a defect in that part of the glass making a darker fleck.
It's not usually very noticeable, but it's just annoying enough for me to think about when I use something with such a mind-boggling price. I wonder if I should ask support about it (still have 8 months on the warranty) - think they would fix it? It does seem a shame to have to replace an entire screen just for that though, but then again what are warranties for...

It's really your call, only you can say how much it bothers you.
If you call service I am sure they will order a new screen and send a tech out to replace it. Your refurb has same warranty as new. Just watch him like a hawk.
If my new one had it I would call, lot of money and it's covered.

I had what looked like dust that covered several pixels near the center of the screen so I returned it for a new one, then new one has a single dead pixel in the lower left. I decided just to live with that since I have to look for it to notice it.

Tap on the screen and it may dislodge the dust and drop to the bottom. I've had success doing this in the past.

Yeah, call support and have the LCD replaced - that shouldn't be there.
