When I play counterstrike source on my desktop, I can tell where everyone is coming from clearly. However in my m17x, the sound has NO direction at all. I can't tell if the person is coming in front of me, behind me, far away, close, or anything! I am using the same stereo headset from my desktop on my m17x, so that can't be the issue. I was thinking the onboard sound on the desktop motherboard is better than the m17x, but can it be that drastic?

    Does anyone have a solution?

    Thank you

Maybe CS:Source doesn't run properly on the Windows you have on the M17x (on Vista or Win7)

What version of Windows do you have on the desktop?

R1 or R2? Is it only in Counterstrike that this happens?

Hi, it happens in all games. The directional sound overall is horrible. Do I need a 5.1 headphone to utilize the onboard sound?

    thx

    This is a R2. i7 720QM, 5870, RGBLED, 250GB 7200RPM HDD

I had a similar issue with my R1, uninstalling the sound devices from Device Manager and restarting my computer worked for me. It's a place to start at least.

Get a 5.1 headset or 7.1 like the megalodon or the logitech g35 or 30 or something you can't get multi directionality from a bi directional headset with out some form of acceleration like the sound card in your desktop or the software you use for it. Which the m17x doesn't have. You can also buy a Creative x-fi express port soundcard which has CMSS which does virtual surround I have it works decent.
