Hey guys, just a quick question. I recently bought an Alienware m17xr4, with a 500GB 7200rpm hardrive and going to put in my own SSD. Both harddrive slots are SATA III right, so it shouldn't matter which one I put the SSD into? Or should I put it in the 'first' one? Would there be any difference at all, even a theoretical one?

Sorry if this has been answered before, did a search but only found that both ports are SATA III.

    Cheers guys

I don't THINK it matters, but popular opinion here is to swap positions anyway. Might be a good idea to keep the SSD center due to heat anyway - if you put the 7200RPM in the side slot, the CPU/GPU fan will likely expel some of its heat for you... Just a theory, really.

Cheers for that. I'll prob stick the SSD in the 1st slot to be safe.

On the R4 doesn't seem to matter - running SSD's in both and they perform the same. R3 had problems with this however.
