If this is somewhere else, please direct me to the correct place.

I was curious to know if I purchase a new R2 with a 520m will it have a compatible mobo that can be upgraded to an i7? I know sometimes there are chipset differences between the two but I don't know if there is at Dell.

LMAO!!!!! But it is a good question, cause that would also mean the m11x can have a i7920xm?

Lol! That's exactly why I'm asking. :) I know the i5 chips are different because they have a on-die gpu and their mem controller is only 1066. But as far as the chipset it technically possible to use an i5 in the same board an i7 is in.

The M11x use's different socket BGA1288 & is embedded i.e ball grid array & is soldered into Mobo & not removable . ;) Even if you could the M11x would not have much battery life with one of them proc's in it .

    I ordered with a 520M and have used an i5 540M, i7 720M, i7 920XM and an i7 940XM ES in my system. No worries.
