Im talking to the guys over at Notebookcheck.com about their information pertaining to the Mobility 4870 (link)...their site says the cards use GDDR5 memory and I keep telling them that it is GDDR3 ONLY for the MR4870...their review on the M17x even shows in the GPU-Z shot that each card is 1GB GDDR3...
Picture of GPU-Z from their review:

He said that he would change it if I could get proof that what Im saying is correct (that all MR4870 are GDDR3).
So if you 4870 X2 owners out there would say in this thread that your cards are using GDDR3, possibly with a GPU-Z screen shot, Id appreciate it!

Well, I linked the guy Im emailing about 4 GPU-Z shots from the main M17x forums and he is now telling me that GPU-Z is incorrect and not a valid tool for determining RAM type...huh?

I found a article from Dell (link)
The article says...and I quote:

YAY! I WIN! He admitted he was wrong and I was right...changes will be made ASAP...for those that care

lol
Ya this was a huge debate first when the W90 came out and then again when the M17x got the 4870s
They have always been GDDR3 ()
That site is also notorious for WRONG information too....especially if you look at their benchmark numbers lol -
ya notebookchek is ran by an .....
it states many thing wrong and justy does not statyes many of them
it rate the 4870 under the 280 while it's been proven that the 4870 just eat the 280 and it does not even put the 4850 cfx in the list while the 4850 have also been provent to be just about the strenght of the 280 depending on your cpu
M17x owners...are your 4870 X2 or 4870 GDDR3 or GDDR5 VRAM?
