What was the latest nvidia driver for the m17x r1 that allowed us to switch between dedicated and integrated graphics cards?
    Thanks

Hello, that depends on the Nvidia video card you have in your computer. If you own a 260 you can find the driver here, but if you have a 280 then please use this one. Hope that helps :)

Ya sorry, I have the 260
    Thanks

I'm aware of the drivers available on the dell website but they are a bit outdated.
So since 2010, there were no releases by nvidia that had supported the capability to switch between dedicated and integrated?
    Thats unfortunate

I had installed the latest driver (May?) and I love it but on top of the dedicated/integrated issue, it does not allow me to change the brightness of the screen.

Are you trying to install the 296.10?

    Well anyway:
-Download the latest driver from the Nvidia website (the 296.10)
-Run the file and stop the installation after all the files got unpacked
    -Download this file http://forum.notebookreview.com/att...1331756159-nvidia-driver-296-10-whql-nvdm.zip
-Go to "C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\296.10\WinVista_Win7_64\International\Display.Driver" and copy and replace using the file above.
-Go back to international folder and run the installation.

Should work just fine, i got the M17x r1 with the GTX260m.
Credit to katalin_2003 i had the same question and this is the guide i got.

Is there any decent advantage to updating this driver?

I have the same GPU but I can still do intergrated through BIOS. But what I would REALLY like to do is overclock the 260m - but have had troubles doing so.

    Current driver is:

    257.38

If I do install this driver - will everything be 'ok?'

Also - to the OP - do you have different drivers for your Q9000 (or do you even have the Q9000 CPU?)?

I'm not entirely sure about the CPU drivers - so if you have any info - let me know :)

I believe the last drivers that allowed the hybrid-sli technology were the 280.26

Not sure though, since then I have chosen to forget about the 9400m... too much trouble, and too old drivers if you want it to be easy to use.

Update - followed instructions given by GrassCube and have successfully updated the 260m's drivers - all functioning fine.

Will see if overclocking is any better... Still not sure about overclocking the Q9000 though.... Might have to do that through BIOS too.

I still can't work out the advantage of having the second graphics card... However, since installing the new drivers I seem to be able to run PCIE Gen 2 more smoothly - is that possible? I have disabled hybrid and integrated graphics though.

So guys, which nvidia display drivers are you currently using?. I've just installed 296.10 (Thanks to aznpos in another thread and GrassCube) because I was having several BSODs (even with Pcie Gen2 disabled and I was just wondering if you are still going with 296 or 301.

And, by the way, which nForce chipset drivers are you guys using?. I got installed the ones from Dell's webpage but I don't know which are the appropiate ones. I've got m17x R1 with single gtx 260M.

I am asking about Nforce drivers because I downloaded Driver detective and it says either my PCI nforce driver and Ethernet driver are obsolete.

    Thanks a lot guys!.

Hope we get one. Really pissed off with Bsods. I'm sorry but I have to say never again to Alienware. Too much issues yet too much money into the system.
