    Hi all

    Have an M17x R1, 280m SLI, Q9000, 4gb Ram, SSD hdd.

Having significant difficulty playing Bad Company 2, with frame rates dropping mostly below 30 unless low level detail is on the screen, eg static sniping. Have tried on medium settings 1920x1200 as well as down to 1280x800, still the same problem. SLI and Physx enabled, in Hybrid mode.

Am I expecting too much to think FRAPS score should be 40+ and the game playable on high res medium settings ?

Anybody else experiencing similar, or any thoughts on what I can do to improve the frame rate ?

    Thanks in advance

try disabling hybrid and integrated graphic via the bios download nhancer try enabling sli indicator in nvidia control panel. this will let you see if the sli is working. also find batboys sli profile updater on this forum and install that.

I run it at 1920x1080 with my GTX 260M on my M15x, everything set to High, Antristropic filtering at 16x but AA is set to 1x (sometimes 2x) and its silky smooth. (using 197.14) drivers. If you R1 has a stealth mode make sure thats not on. I had that problem when I installed crysis it chugged then i realised it was in stealth mode and I can run it maxed out on Gamer and Most settings on Enthusiast.

If you're using Bitdefender, try adding the 3d apps to the Active Virus Control exception list. This was a problem a few months ago, not sure if it was ever resolved. I just got in the habit of adding all newly installed games to the exception list.

Coops, I get this problem with this game in particular, it is sometimes worse at times than others, but always there. I can play most other games on max, but sometimes get the same problem in MW2.

If you manage to come up with something, please share?

some people have also had success in using throttle stop to stop the random fps drops.Just monitor your temps when you use it.

I think your CPU is actually holding you back. Most folks reporting good results either have I7 or Q9300's.

You are using a R1 running at 3.66 yes? The Q9000 is running at just over half that speed.

I have the same processor and 260m and there is no problem at all (average between 40 and 50 frames), try lowering shadows they have a big impact in framerate for this game

q9000 is a weak processor. It's more or less two P7350s with inefficient bandwidth..
