Just put a dell gtx 680m in and all I get is black screen and 1 long beep and 2 short beeps. Any ideas what I need to do from here?

Edit. Now there is no beeps. Just black screen.

Struggling to remember so hopefully an R2 owner can comment but..

You need to go into the bios. Make sure Hybrid SLI is disabled and there is also one other video setting where you select PEG.

    Good hunting ;)

Edit Doh moment - of course you cant see it! Try a reseat or even pop the original back just to be sure nothing got broken maybe?

I don't think the r2 has those options...

Yep , do you have some bios screen all black all time ? Can you see the alien face at boot ? Have you try an external display ?
When the gpu is not working ( or any other component ) the 3 light for the scroll lock , ver num , ver maj blink. Depending of this light you can see what's wrong. Have you tried to unmount it and putting it back after ? Some time you can have bad contact.

Yeah, think you know better than I ;). I always get confused with the R2. I was told it does not have a separate iGPU (That's the R1 with an NV 96xx chip). But then one R2 guy said his machine worked fine without any dGPU .

So it has NO optimus type option for power save?

I just tried external via HDMI and I have video now. Gonna try and flash vbios and see if that allowed me to use laptop screen. This was an m18x slave card so that may be my issue. Then gonna have to figure out if I can get drivers to install with windows 10 or not.

Edit: After reflashing with svl7's bios it still shows no display on laptop but does through HDMI. Still having driver issues with modded inf on win10 us 8.1 driver download.

Already tried that. Also tried flashing different bios from svl7 page but now black screen through HDMI too. Tried to blind flash it to my backup but no luck.

Edit: was able to recover it by flashing it in slave slot so I'm back on track. Now just gotta get display to work on lappy. Does MSI vbios work with dell cards?

You might want to go looking for this vbios version from this thread.
Since it is a Dell card this link should provide the vbios factory version.

Good luck and don't forget you will need to modify the inf drivers to get this card to work with windows. :)

Have you tried flashing in the slave slot worth a go but honestly I think it's bricked and your last option is to bake it.
This thread shows similar problems to your situation with sound advice.
    Good luck.

Yup think its time to put my 4870m's back in :(. Lesson well learned here: don't buy a card used as a slave for a master card. I think it is a bad card in the first place and can only be used as a slave.

You could try the 4870 in primary and 680m in slave and try to flash it this way with the vbios. That should theoretically work but no real guarantee.

Did that once already when I flashed to a bad bios. Recovered from seeing nothing on both displays to just seeing on external.

Sending card back to seller tomorrow. Getting $315 or so refund when he receives it.
