    Hello !!

My cpu is very hot when doing normal stuff like installing a program , now imagine if i start gaming (given this high temps i am avoiding games atm).

    My m17x r2 history:

got an m17x r1 last year
    decided to get 5870m cf
gpus fans where stuck at 30%
    decided to upgrade to r2
got 1st faulty motherboard did not post with two gpus plus it had corrupted unflasheable bios
got 2nd faulty motherboard worked with two gpus but it was unable to recognize power adapter
got 3rd motherboard (current) works fine (except that it does not outputs any sound but im ok with it)

so this being said i was installing yesterday some programs and drivers and realized the fan was very loud , checked hw monitor and the cpu is like 99 degrees celsious , i disabled the turbo feature on bios and it has normal temps afterwards . i applied thermal paste with a card evenly to the cpu surface and i used some thermal pads on the capacitors since the old ones where very old. i dont know whats going on , thanks in advance for any help!!

If it were me I'd repaste with a line down the middle. Thick as a grain of rice. Don't tighten the screws tight. Plug the keyboard in boot run hwmonitor and slowly tighten in order 1/4 turn each till you get a stable idle temp. If you see a spike back off a turn and call it a day. Monitor idle for a bit then try a small load

Make sure the fans are free of dust, but 99 Celsius means that you're hitting the throttling temperature threshold. The thermal pads might be an issue if they are too thick, but components that are usually cooled by pads don't require much cooling to begin with.

I also agree with the repaste, it won't hurt that is for sure.

thanks !! i did that and the temps are better now

seems i added to many thermal pads on the capacitors (or what ever it is) and temps now are much better, i just left one thermal pad layer , before it had like 4
