Hey guys, sry for the new post, I searched the forums under the topic "hardware failure" but found nothing relevant to the r2. So here's my issue. While playing games or running intensive programs my laptop gets extremely hot. And after some time it'll start to stutter then I get a weird rainbow looking image where I see a lot of colors kinda overlapping each other with double screens, then a "hardware Failure" BSOD. I'm assuming it's from my laptop overheating but I'm not sure if the culprit is the gfx cards or the proc. I have tried putting the proc at stock clocks, I've tried monitoring the temps but it would seem when it fails it wipes the logs. I have tried cleaning the fans and updating the bios. The only thing I haven't really done is update the gfx drivers. They are still dell stock. But with the weird double screen overlap and rainbow effects I'm figuring I have one gfx card failing. Also if dell finds this to be the culprit will they send me out a new 4870 or will they just upgrade me to a 5870? If you have anything to help me out I would appriciate it, this system has MANY little querks and I would like to talk to someone in private about them in more detail if I could. Please feel free to PM me and we can chat outside forum and possibly get this fixed. Thx for reading in advance.

It can be the motherboard or the Graphic cards that need to be changed. Call Dell and then a tech will decide what to do(on site repair or send in the machine etc.). Usually Dell will install the same hardware specs if available.

Yep, they might replace the mobo/GPUs but will most likely use refurbished parts and same hardware. No way you gonna get 5870s ;)

Definetely sounds like you got overheating GPUs. When you feel the extreme heat, quickly exit the game (alt+tab) to the temperature monitor to see how hot your computer is running.
