Hey guys, i have an M17x R2 with raid 0. Laptop has been running perfectly fine with no real issues however i noticed something odd when i turned it on today. The RAID0 status is OK and bootable however one of the hard drives says Error Occured(0) under status/type, the other hard drives status is Member Disk(0) as it has always been. The laptop is running perfectly fine and doesn't seem to have any issues, no data appears to be lost and it has no issues booting into Windows. I have also ran the in-built windows disk check which corrected a missing index or something but otherwise everything went along fine.

Does anyone know why this may have occured, if it's a serious issue and/or how to fix it?

    Cheers.

You probably had a read error on the drive. The controller detected it and provides the warning. I've had errors on raid-0 matrices before, it wasn't much to worry about. You can just "reset" the matrix (i think it's done in Intel's Rapid Storage Tool) and it will show green for both disks again. Still, errors could indicate that particular drive may be not doing so well.

Thanks for the reply, i've also noticed that the OSD touch panel is now unresponsive :(. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the OSD drivers but it doesn't seem to help.

After opening up Intel rapid storage techology, it lists the status of my second hard drive as "failed" and says that "your volume appears inaccessible, Volume0 failed. Disk on port 5 failed.". Doesn't fill me with much confidence lol.

    Funny,

I have the same issue, i have 2 touch panels, and swapping them out does not solve the problem so it's software related

I'd definitely back up your system (if you haven't already) and would probably look to at least have a replacement drive handy just in case. Very interesting about the touchpad, I wonder if the errors on the drive coorelate to the driver installation.

Yeah I've backed everything up, since the OSD refuses to work I'm not having much faith that the hard drive is healthy. It's sort of sad because one of the hard drives has already been replaced and it's only two years old.

Just another update guys, OSD touchpanel is now randomly working again. I marked the hard drive as normal through Intel Rapid Storage Tech and everything "appears" to be fine, and as i said i have everything backed up just in case.

    Cheers all for the help.

I would mark it as normal but back up all the info, once you get an error like that you may encounter a RAID array failure anytime in the future (anytime from 1 week to 4 years). :p It's better to be prepared.
