I decided to repaste my cpu and gpu tonight. I have taken apart my laptop several times and put it back together with no problems. After I put everything back together, my laptop won't boot. No picture on the screen, none of the led lit up, fans didn't spin. There is no sign of the laptop working. I tried it with just the battery and plugged in without the battery and it still doesn't boot. I have tried to reconnect the wires on the motherboard. I even reset the coin cell battery. I'm not sure what else I can do. Please help.

Okay it doesn't boot or it doesn't power on? Does your adapter have the blue light?

Yes. I tried using a spare m17x r2 motherboard and it still won't boot. I did notice that the fans spin for about half a second then stop whenever I try to turn it on. I also tried using an r1 motherboard and cpu and the laptop posted. I'm guessing that the motherboard is fine, but my cpu is dead.

Sound like your CPU or another component has shorted/fried.

R2 doesn't support iGPU as it is PM55 chipset.

Would it at least spin the fans and light up the led?

Yes it would, if you don't put the GPU in it would spin the fan and the LEDs light up, followed by 3 beeps and LED error code (blinking scroll and caps lock, with solid num lock).

Some motherboards are very fricky when it comes to keyboad (the ribbon cable for keyboard must be plugged very carefully and all the way in for it to start up) so double check that.

Good way to test whats wron is also removin everything from the mobo except CPU, CPU fan and keyboard and then try to turn it on using on mobo power button ;)

    Hope anything helps :)
