    I called Alienware and they told me that they can only sell me the GTX 580m with the motherboard for $1000.....

    I've seen people here that were able to get the part for less than $600. What should I do?

    You should call Dell Support and give them the part number from Mr. Fox's parts list and see if you can get it that way.

    I have ordered 7970m more than 2 months ago. Was in production according to status on Dell page whole time. I have exchanged couple of emails with Dell representative whilst they kept stating its out of stock. So I have cancelled my order finally and now I am waiting already for more than one week for my money ... Will go for next gen of GPU, but probably not from Dell, will try probably luck on eBay with upgradeyourlaptop.
