Reason is i am looking in to get this laptop but i would like to upgrade it to rgbled screen.
And can anyone tell me if the connector is 40 pin ?
    Will it fit AOU B173HW01 v.4 ?

Both screens use two cables to connect to the motherboard. They are the same. Like I just mentioned in another thread, you would likely have to use the screen specifically for the R3 ordered from Dell or on eBay. I don't think another screen would actually work/fit.

which card would you guys suggest to upgrade to ? Considering the fact that someday I might have extra cash lying around to buy another instance to make it crossfire/sli ?

I currently have 6970 (single) .... I do tend to incline towards 3D content these days since I bought samsung D7000 which is 3D enabled......

any advice on the card ? irrespective of budget for now...

There is a screen upgrade thread but the guide was never posted. :( the problem with putting a new lcd panel in the r3 is that the current one is secured to the plexi glass with double sided tape and is very difficult to remove without both destroying the current panel or cracking the plexiglass overlay. Hope this helps you guys out.

If you have the 120hz 3d enabled R3 then I suggest upgrading to the GTX 580M. I am not sure if the new series of graphics cards will work with the current mobo so 580m may be the highest we can upgrade to with R3, but only time will tell.

Plus I thought only nvidia cards work with 3d.
