    :hi2: hiya all,

so, I'm toying with the idea of upgrading the CPU and possibly GPU of my good ol' M17x (see sig). The question is, what cpu should I opt for? I mean, obviously the most powerful one, but are there special types of cpus? I saw something about SR0US and so on. Also, I'd be grateful if someone would be king enough to post me a step-by-step guide on how to perform the upgrade, because i wasn't able to fing anything on the net.... maybe i didn't look hard enough. :D . If it's necessary to flash a new BIOS etc... or is it just plug n' play?? That would be grand.

    Thx, Pistino01

The 3940XM is plug and play. It's also the best you can get for the R4.

3940XM is the best.. It's a pain to cool though.. I've got mine running at 3.8GHz on 4 cores in games and it runs at 90C... You really want to use some proer thermal paste (I was using MX-4 which is ) with it!

I'm running a 3920xm at X43 across all cores and I stay around 70c while gaming... those 3940xm cant be that much different than the 3920xm.

Wth lol... How are you cooling it? I'm using MX-4 and I really need to repaste but I hardly doubt the temps will drop much for me...

About the GPU, you could use a 780m without issues. Plug & Play also.
