    M17x r4 discrete graphics not detected

    Hi everyone ive been having a issue with my alienware m17x r4 2013 since December.

    So i got the 8 beeps so i bought a new 7970m put that in and it stopped the 8 beeps the laptop runs fine but it says discrete graphics not detected in the bios.

    Ive done a fresh install of windows 7 and drivers installed in the correct order , even bought a new ssd drive still says the same.

    I bought another 7970m just incase i got a faulty one the first time and again still says discrete graphics not detected. Fn+f7 works but it only runs on the intel hd.

    I must be missing something simple does anyone know whats going on?

    Change to PEG mode in the bios and see if the screen will run

    Try flashing to the A11 modded bios - it gives you a bunch more options

    Ok so i running a11 and still cant see anything in the bios menu

    Give us some visual of your bios screen. Sometime you are not telling the problem correctly.

    The only way you don't see a discrete gpu is if you have the setting on igpu.

    Not sure why the card don't show in bios. AMD is native to M17X R4. Try flashing an unlocked bios and then play with gpu settings and let us know what the outcome it.
