Two issues I'm having here-One I ordered a 1920*1200 screen that was supposed to come with the computer. Well I got the 1440*900 gimped one and want to know if anyone has done this upgrade or knows where to get a 1920*1200 screen.

Second, I see all this talk of Ocing the CPU, but when I try I can't change anything. I have a Q9000 and the option is there to OC, but like i said, can't do it. I also don't have a power supply for it yet as he 'forgot' that too, so I'm trying to use a 90 watt adapter from an old d505 I had. That may be what is holding up the OC.

    Thoughts?

If you were meant to get a 1920x1200 screen then tell him to give you it.

You can upgrade the screen on your own. Just have to find the entire LCD plus the edge to edge housing OR find a compatible 1920x1200 LCD and have an extremely dust free room.

You can't OC non-extreme Intel chips. You'll need the QX chips.

I also don't recommend using a non-compatible charger, could do some harm to your laptop.

I plan to. But it would be easier and faster to get him to send me one or buy one for me and me install it as opposed to shipping back to him, exchanging, then him shipping back to me-all in good faith. You see, he has his money already.

The screen is easy. I did the one on this 7805 I am using in 20 minutes. From 1440*900 to 1920*1200. Just haven't really been able to find a breakdown on the M17x yet. Sure it'll be easy once I get started.

lol [sarcasm] yeah it is as easy as changing the screen on the 7805 [/sarcasm] which I also did on my old 7805. The lcd is housed in an E2E enclosure which is (the lcd) glued/taped to the E2E. You have to worry about not damaging anything while using a razor blade or exacto knife to perform the surgery then also make sure too much dust doesn't find it's way on the inside. So I'd just demand that dell replace it with the correct screen you ordered the notebook with.
