Long story but I need to be able to adjust the volume of audio playing on my new M17x with the lid closed. With my M1710 there are buttons on the front of the computer and a person confined to bed who can't sit up can reach over and adjust the volume.

Need an option that is small (due to bedside table size where the laptop will be) and easily portable.

    Any clever ideas? Thanks.

Need more details on exactly what you're doing?

Are you outputting HDMI to a TV with the lid closed?

If so, just use the TV remote.

    Or use this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...Remote&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd

Yeah, should have given more detail. Basically, will be playing playlists of songs and audio files on the laptop, via WMP or Zoom audio player, on the computer as it sits on the bedside table next to someone in bed. That person will need to reach over and adjust the volume, say one program in the playlist is too loud or too soft compared to the previous program. They can't sit up and open the computer and reach over and find the keys to turn the volume up or down. On the M1710 they can simply reach over while laying down, and by feel along turn the volume up or down via the volume keys on the front of the M1710.

One more option, which lets you do remote control via wifi:

    http://www.amazon.com/iPazzPort-2-4GHz-Wireless-Keyboard-Remote/dp/B006OW1J1M

"2.4GHz wireless. Enjoy long-range wireless control from up to 10 metre (33 feet) away. Backlighting: Makes text entry effortless even in low light conditions. Can double as IR TV remote as well, and includes wireless mouse capability (similar to wii).
