my m17x wont boot up with the battery in , if i press the power button the fans will spin up and the lights come on for a few seconds then it shuts down like a forced power off

however if i take the battery out all is fine , but if i put the battery in while the machine is powered up it will power off instantly

Contact Technical Support. Between the battery issue and the driver issue you are having, its time to call them.

It sounds like an exact problem they were having before the CF release, intermediate power shutdown when the battery is below 7.2V. A04 was supposed to fix this, however I agree, time to call tech support.
