    Hey Alien Gurus,

I am in serious need of some help! I have been trying to research and narrow down this problem for over three weeks now. I have scoured this forum, dells forum and google for answers and I got quite a bit of suggestions but none of them work for my issue. So here is the issue:

A while back I started getting the "AC adapter not supported plug in 240w" jargon and I found a few post on here that I tried and it worked. First was Removing the plug in BIOS and replugging it in. The Wattage would appear and all would be fine. Did that for a few months but then that fix didn't work anymore so went with removing the battery and powering down by holding Power button for 20 seconds. This also worked for a few weeks, then it would return. I ended up Respawning and everything returned to normal and no power wattage errors or charging problems occurred.

Now I'm at what seems the point of no return. The errors are back and Im in the middle of two major projects and do not have the luxury of Respawning and reinstalling all my software. None of the fixes work anymore including going into device manager and deleting the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery device". Now here is the kicker, I get the blinking red x icon over my battery when the plug is plugged in. Remove the battery and I get no battery detected. Which is all fine, expect I can no longer shut down. Whenever I shut down, it goes into sleep/hibernation mode. The Alienhead pulsates Blue all the time while plugged in. When unplugged everything powers down (Battery dead). So I order a brand new battery from dell. Only to find out the nothing changed. New Battery, Not charging, still not shutting down.

I have tried removing the battery while my laptop is on and then inserting it which gives me "Reserved Battery Level: Your battery power is low (%7). If you don't plug in your computer soon, it will sleep automatically." I have tried every single different configuration I could in the power options and nothing changes anything.

I have ruled out it being the battery but before I go out and order another power cord which is pretty expensive I need to rule out that this isn't a Windows7 issue like it seemed to be the first time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in Advance.

Hmmm guess i'm the only one with this problem.

You should give this a try. If the issue persists we may need to replace the motherboard so please send us an e-mail to [email protected] with your tag and contact info and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Thats for the reply. I have tried the battery out, alienhead and fn+f2 toggle but I will try it again and see if it works. I believe I am on Bios A07 but I will check that as well and email you my results. I just can't see it being my motherboard because it was replaced less than a year ago along with my video card when my Alien died. Well unless I got a lemon motherboard. Who knows..I'll let you know! Thanks again.

I have a hundred dollars that says it's your motherboard. Experience is a cruel mistress.
