    M17x-R1 vs M17x-R3 compatible hardware

    :hi2: folks, I have a questions and I know in this place are the answers all the time. :eek: (thank you to all to willing to help) :thumbsup:
    I want to know if the screen (17” UXGA 1920 x 1200 ) of my old R1 is compatible with the new R3, the screen on the R3 is 1600 x 900. and the blue-ray drive on the R1 can be swap on the R3? I want to do this but I am not sure. :confused: Please advice

    The screens are not interchangeable (the M17x is 16:10 and the M17x R3 is 16:9) but the optical units (bluray drive) are.

    Thank you for the information, now an other question, That little diference 16:10 vs 16:9 make difference on the screen? I am just wondering, I am end user and still learning.

    On a 16:10 screen you get more vertical space compared to 16:9.
    The M17x resolution is 1920x1200 while the M17x R3 max resolution is 1920x1080. Due to their aspect ratio, they are physically different and therefore not interchangeable without seriously modifying your system.

    Well, I love my old M17x-R1 just for the resolution of the screen. But it's almost 4 years old and at any moment it will fail. I will have to live with less resolution.
