I am sure the Indians that go to school to learn English probably make less mistakes than us. -
The three I've spoken to have spoken well, but ocassionaly they have made mistakes, if you can call using litertal use of words mistakes. -

Ok - just as an amusing thing to ponder:
If the Nvidia DX11 chips show up before the 5870's would folks still wait for the 5870's? Curious because I am wondering if folks would take whatever comes first.
No word on USB 3 either which is a shame. -

USB 3.0 is hardly a big deal. I personally couldn't care less about it. Maybe in 2 or 3 years I will, but certainly not any time soon.
I hope that May 7th estimate is correct, I want to get my hands on a pair of MR5870's ASAP. -
-
I just got off the phone with a Dell tech and they told me the A04 bios should be released today.
-
Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
correct me if am wrong but this seems to be a reply from dell as department and not a reply of a rep by his own. thus qezep you got this from Dell IRL didnt you? the guy i am talking about is also in Dell IRL.

That was the bios my machine came with and it doesn't work. I want to see a write up on it.

-
Just one. I ordered my system with 4870s.
-
Why wouldn't 1 5870 work in your system?

R1.
This sentence is because the message was too damn short. -
Don't flash the R2 BIOS on the R1 unless you want a new mobo replacement
-
-
-
This is A04 for the R1 (I think). The checksum matched and it let me install it. Believe me, I was skeptical too. It's straight off the Dell site and I even entered my service tag to make sure it still came up in the supported updates. How do they differentiate between the R1 and R2 for updates?
-
It says M17x-R2 on the driver site
-
Here's where I grabbed it:
Drivers and Downloads
No mention of R1 or R2. Regardless, it's running fine for me on an R1. Maybe R2 shouldn't install it? Haha -
m17x-R2 still has the A02 BIOS. The R1 just released the A04 today.
-
The BIOS A04 is for the M17X R1
-
I installed A04 on my R1 with no issues.
No 58xx support added lol -
Megacharge Custom User Title
The R1 is EOL. I don't expect them to be adding any more support for anything to the R1 bios.
-
I have a Dell rep looking into the possibility of adding 5870 support to the R1. Not sure how soon there will be any news, though.
-
I am not waiting for that....Waiting for the NVIDIA update
but I have to admit 58xx CF option is tempting lol -
-
-
i love how people say it's coming soon. soon = within 1 years time. it could be tomorrow it could be 1 year from now.
-
I still want to hear the new date that Joker knows.
-
-
-
so.. anyone know if the 5870s are 128bit? i know scook9 said it should perform almost like desktop 4870x2 but doesn't the 4870x2 perform better than the 5770?
-
The bus width is 128bit yes. It uses gddr5 ram however so it will run faster and as such have higher bandwidth than the gddr3 4870
-
anyone found out yet if it has a CF connector?
M17x-R2 - out with HD5870
