Best to be conservative and say about 20% (same as a 4870--->5870m), we will need to see if there are any efficiency improvements when they arrive!

 

my replacement order was in production for just one day and now its shipped!. thats what Dell can do when it wants to get rid of 4870s. lool

Can someone help me? The fan cooling my 5870 video card is al of the sudden making a loud whirrling noise. It doesn't do it when I turn my laptop upside down. Can someone help me figure out whats wrong?

 

Anything on the AW website is not great reference as they are biased but definitely I would love to see a comparison with the same CPU so we have an idea of the exact increase in power those cards offer.

 

Yeah your fan is loose like I mentioned in the A05 bios thread. You need to call Dell and get it replaced. End of story.

They're not coming till the end of the month, But that was from Dell Chat so i wouldnt trust them as far as i could throw them.

 

Ikuto, that's fine, I'm in no real hurry. I actually want to see what other peoples experiences are with them first to see how they fair.

I'm using an m1730 with 8800gtx sli at the moment. It's fine in most cases, but I'm finding the dual core x9000 to be a bottle neck at times with cpu intensive games.

Yes, it appears to be a typo but I'd hold off on ordering until they fix it - just in case.

 

There is no such thing as a GDDR5 Mobility 4870. It is a error. it'll probably be fixed tonight. or on monday.

Any of you know any discount applicable to the M17x in australia coz i have tried the EPP but it doesnt work... Any way of getting any discount??

It probably will be, Time to haggle to get free 5870CF in my replacement Sadly there is no Discounts in AUS for M17x. There use to be a 10% one but they took it off atfer march.

 

Yeah I know. My warning to wait was just in case you order and they don't amend your order to 5870s. (In which case you'd cancel and re-order anyway I suppose).

The short answer is no.

Alienware and Adamo products are not eligible for EPP and Asia Pacific region Reps have their hands tied - they don't have the delegation to discount. The reps may be able to throw in a freebie accessory or provide a negligible discount (eg less than $100). Beyond that, we pay premium in AU.

Yes, But they couldn't keep there end o the deal (With supply GDDR5 4870s) So they would have to give you the 5870s as they met the criteria of the data more.

The Logic with AUS with no Discounts is kinda sad, I mean everywhere else you can get discounts as high as your ears, but In AUS its all or nothing, I'm hoping i can get at least 5870CF in my replacement. and buy the 920XM to go with them, But I'm having my doubts.

 

What the hell is GDDR5 4870 which shows on most websites of Asian countries include AU NZ CHN and so on. if it only happens on the AU website, i believe it might be a typo, well, how about other countries, did the same guy made the same mistake and DELL did not fix it for 12 hours?

It IS a typo, someone just forgot to change the 4 to a 5 it'll be fixed on monday or tonight. I've already said there is no such thing as a 4870 GDDR5 MR

 

I noticed that early morning today. it just does not make sense. On one hand, other countries get 5870CF already and we get 4870 GDDR5? On the other hand, dose such thing GDDR5 4870 exist? I believe it is a type at first.
However, i find another thing that many other Asian countries like China, Hong Kong, they all get GDDR5 4870 update like us. Then it either be a mistake by the same guy, nor it might be true.

My ealier point was that they might try to process an order with 4870s (GDDR3) instead of 5870s if you ordered right now.

ceshimm, probably. I imagine that the websites are updated by region. We're Asia Pacific, so I assume whoever updated AU would have updated the others as well. There is no such thing as 4870s with GDDR5 for the m17x.

Be patient guys, we've waited this long - we can wait another day or two until they rectify their mistake.

 

That's what i believe too. i do not think such thing does exist. I just can not believe that someone made same mistake to so many countries and nobody fix it. 10 hours passed mate, DELL looks not that professional.

by the way, how many of u OZ guys r going to order one, maybe we can make a group purchase or something else. just an idea, do not have specific plan yet.

 

Indeed we can, The longer the better. I have to wait to get my refund for my Second 4870 i ordered so i can buy the 920XM to put in my replacement, and hope they will give me 5870CF for free. as compensation for all the flaws with my first M17x...

I'm going to try and get them in my replacement for free. as I've had trouble with this one. I'm hoping ill get a good guy (The person who said he'd email me a confirmation for the replacement was nice, Hoping i can haggle him for them) And ill simply buy the 920XM upgrade.

 

I've experienced two times of refund, do not want any more. For now, just wait for the refund for AW keyboard. what's wrong with ur current one?

10hours is nothing, people have had their original 5870CF orders in production before they were cancelled and told they were not available.

 

Hey guess what!! Remember that Dell Rep I told you about - Alex Lee. He called me just a few mins back and said that the 5870CF will be available in Australia from Monday. He was saying the price would be around $100 US dollars but I feel more like it would be the same as 4870CF.

Anyways man i couldnt control my joy on the fone!! The time has come....
He will call me again on Monday. This is the first rep who sounds reliable so I might place my order through him....

 

He likely meant $100 USD more than the CF 4870.

 

in all likely hood yeah it is going to be $100 then the 4870 cause in the us its $75 more then 4870

 

Ya, same here, he just called me as well. But i think he said the price difference will be 100 Australia dollar based on 4870CF of course. Anyway, that's not a big deal. still, one free stuff from AW MOUSE/KEYBOARD/HEADSET/BOSS SPEAKER, or any upgrade at A$130 worth.

 

i just don't see why they cant give us the 130 dollars as a discount....

 

A$130 upgrade is my personal speculation. based on last time they agreed to give me free upgrade to WIN7 Ultimate which worth A$130 instead of one of those free stuff.

Hopefully it'll get here under a month. The M17x R1 and M11x did. Depends on my build stage duration.

 

I just installed Metro 2033 on my G73jh. I set it to play on "High" and DX11. Game play was unacceptable. I changed it to DX10 and it was much better. I guess I need dual DX11 cards.
