So I was messing around with my iPhone tonight (which was all but ruined by ios4) and in the middle of doing one of the operations to restore it the two usb connectors on the right side of the laptop went unresponsive. So I shut down, rebooted and when it got the "sense" screen it said that it could verify biometrics because of a problem with the camera. uh oh, this can't be good

So I manually enter my password and when I get to the desktop I get an error relating to microsoft's .net framework that I've never seen before. Now part of what I was doing with the phone required updating .net, which seemed pretty harmless. But the list of problems didn't stop at just the webcam and USB (which still wasn't working after the reboot). Now I had no wireless, all of the alien-specific software was having huge issues and .net errors kept popping up. So I removed everything that I installed earlier in the evening, shut down, dig a big power drain and rebooted. Now the normal services are back but the usb and webcamera are still hosed. I checked and even skype can't see the webcam anymore.

Any suggestions short of calling Dell? I looked at the device manager and I'm not getting an weird errors which seems, well, weird. :(

Nevermind, two more full reboots and I'm back to normal.

Now, if it would just stop waking up to a black screen...
