Hello,
Does anyone know how can can you check in Windows 7 or the BIOS of M17x-R2 whether the display you currently have installed is indeed the RGBLED. The display looks great but since I can't compare it with anonther display and I want to be 100% sure that it is RGBLED, I waned to see if the part number, brand, etc. are mention somewhere? In the device manager it only says "Generic PnP Monitor" under monitors.
Thank you.

Take it apart look at the screens ID tag at the bottom left or right of it then google the number there's no way to verify in 7 or bios joker or moo posted a pic of it's location pm them

To quote Wendy's, "When it's Real, you know when it's Real."

The Hardware ID is SEC5443. But I think that may be the same on another monitor as well, not sure.
Plus just looking at it is amazing. Especially when compared to my two older laptops. There is no comparison. -

Look at some of the pictures in this thread.
RGB LED Test Page
Look at the picture of the guitar. If it is flaming red, it's RGB LED -
I ended up using the guitar on my desktop. That is an awesome picture on the RGB screen.

Yeah, trust me...you'll know...the RED's alone should be enough...if the REDs are jumping out at you like 3D..then you have the LED RGB screen
-
HWINFO32 reports the RGBLED as K1NFP170CT under Monitor Name, which lines up with the part number on the "original configuration" page (go to dell support site and enter your service tag).
I would assume a different string on CCFL. -

Well the CCFL in my R1 is this string in HWinfo32
Monitor Name: R610K€170CT -
Look for the Display Type in HWinfo32.
This should be RGB color.
Best regards

All color monitors will have a Display Type of RGB color. Try it on other computers--you'll get the same result.
-
Trust me, you CANNOT mistake this... one test is that the red of the LED's is very strong, it almost glows no matter how much you tweak it down. -
You can also go to device manager, Monitors, Generic PnP Monitors, Right click, go to properties, then details tab, then under the "Property" Drop down menu go to Hardware ID. You should be able to use that number to cross reference and verify.

cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
NO
that is just samsung I think...but it shows up in MANY models
you are looking for something like this (is from my machine which is CCFL NOT RGBLED):

Yeah, run HWInfo32. You don't even have to install it, just get the Zip version. Anyway, here is a pic of the Monitor section. I guess it should look like this.

or you can download everest from here

I would advise people not to use everest for now (I haven't tried the beta yet). The R2 BSOD's when monitoring temps. I documented this a long time ago and now more people have noticed. Check the Owner's lounge.
-
WaR....sorry did not know that. I only tried everest on my r1 to show that I did successfully install the rgb led wuxga from my buddies r2.
-
Well, yes, unfortunately (or fortunately for those with an R1), Everest works fantastic with the R1.
-
guess what?? A tech came to replace the monitor on my m17x r2 and the send me a R1 screen!!! on hwinfo it shows as R610K€170CT
