Hi guys, I just got my M17x-R2 and it came as RAID 1. So I changed it via Intel Matrix Storage Utility in Windows to RAID 0, but when I boot the laptop now everytime the Intel RAID UI displays "Uninitialized" at startup in yellow (when before it was just "OK" in green signalling everything was fine).

How do I "initialize" my RAID 0???

    Hi zchay7e,

Are you still able to boot into windows after trying the change?

Normally when you want to change RAID settings for your OS and hard drive setup you will need to do so in the system BIOS settings. You will also need to reinstall the OS. RAID 1 and 0 uses different stripping formats.

RAID 0 uses both hard drive storage and read writes data between the 2 hard drives where as RAID 1 mirrors hard drive 1 with hard drive 2.

So use RAID 0 for performance mode and RAID 1 for redundancy.

    Cheers. :)

Hi, yes it all works fine from what I can see, Laptop boots and all works 100% after the change. And no, you don't get to choose between RAID O or 1 in the Bios, only in the Intel Matrix Config manager at startup and also in Windows 7. Both have been changed and Intel does allow the migration of RAID 1 to RAID 0 on the fly under Windows 7. However, the bootup shows "unintialized". Short of me having to redo the whole system I just wanted to know if there's anything to initialize it??
